When Givens Pool was built in 1958, it was the second pool located in historic black East Austin. The pool has long been a treasure in the community. Many longtime East Austin families have fond memories of gathering at the pool. Our project aims to share the rich history surrounding Givens Pool and the stories of neighbors and pool users past and present.
